Survey Reveals How Many Of Us (Will Admit We) Check Our Phones During Sex

Naughty. And not in a good way.

Phone sex is great. Phone DURING sex – not so much.

For many people, a partner checking their phone during a conversation is bad enough – but this takes it to another level.

A survey conducted by Unplug in Dublin and stumbled upon by our JOE bros, sought to examine the balance between real life and technology.

Speaking to over 100 peeps in The Waterloo and Toners pubs in the fair city, they got some pretty interesting stats when it comes to people’s phone habits.

Eighty-eight per cent of respondents agreed that using your phone in a group conversation is rude, even though 83 per cent admit to being on the blower when out with friends.

Twenty per cent revealed that they have their smartphone on the table during Christmas dinner (our Mammies would kill us?).

Thirty-three per cent of those surveyed revealed that they have used a dating app while on a date and five per cent of naughty so-and-sos check their phone during sex.

Frank Quinn, co-owner of Toners and The Waterloo, explained: “Technology is great but people are losing the art of human conversation.

“Technology is great but people are losing the art of human conversation.

“You cannot shake hands or make eye contact with a smartphone. Irish pubs are known for conversation and craic and we need to make sure we keep it that way.”

Emer Duffy, neuroscience expert and teacher at Unplug, added: “Technology is affecting the way we think, feel and behave.

“The sheer volume of devices we all have, results in constant multitasking often contributing to mental fatigue.

“The Unplug retreat is a unique opportunity to make friends with your technology with the help of evidence based CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) and the neuroscience of “your brain on tech.”
