Survey Says People Who Love Emoji-Speak Have More Sex (Yes, Really)

Emoji-speak is the best. Sometimes words fail and you just want to use colourful icons to communicate what you're saying. According to a new survey, using emojis means you think more about sex than people who don't. Research conducted by online dating site, Match.com, says that people who use more than one emoji in a message are likely to think about sex a few times a day. According to The Tech Times, 5,000 people were surveyed and according to the results, people who didn't use emojis were less likely to think about sex. A previous Match.com study from 2014 also said that people who used emojis had more sex. 54 percent of emoji users said they had more sex that year, compared to 31 percent who preferred text. Emoji OBSESSED Lead researcher Dr Helen Fisher said: "Here we have a new technology that absolutely jeopardizes your ability to express your emotion... there is no more subtle inflection of the voice ... and so we have created another way to express emotions and that is the emoji". Fisher believes that the use of emojis allows you to show you more of your personality in conversation and to be fair, we can see what she means by this (any fellow unicorn obsessives out there?!) The survey relates to all emojis, not just the ones that could be interpreted as 'sex' emojis i.e. the aubergine, banana, tongue etc, and overall, the wink face was deemed the most popular. In second place was the standard smiley and third, the kiss face.
