A teenager who attempted the ‘duct tape challenge’ has been left with a smashed eye socket and 48 staples in his head after falling and suffering from a brain aneurysm.
Skylar Fish was attempting the ‘duct tape challenge’ – where people wrap themselves in tape and attempt to break free – when he was wrapped up while standing up.
According to the
New York Daily News, Skylar wriggled and struggled to break himself free, but the challenge resulted in him falling and hitting his head against a window frame. He then smashed his head onto concrete.
The fall crushed his left eye socket and caused a brain aneurysm – resulting in 48 staples in his head. He has now been in hospital for more than a week recovering from his injuries.

Speaking from hospital, Skylar Fish told
KIRO7 reporter Siemny Kim:
"I'm just, actually, really lucky to be alive.
"When I think about it, it seems like I was hit by a car.”
Speaking to the news stations, Skylar mother Sarah added:
"When he fell, he hit the corner of the window frame. It crushed his whole eye socket and pinched off nerves in his eye."
Skylar is still waiting to learn if he’ll regain the vision in his eye.
