The Gap Between The Most And Least Expensive Places To Rent In Ireland Is Shocking

Daft's rental report had some very interesting findings.

Daft’s rental report threw up some very interesting findings.

Most attention-grabbing of all, is the gaping difference between the most and least expensive places to rent, a gap that is only getting wider by the year.

Unsurprisingly, the top five most expensive places to rent in Ireland are all in Dublin, with the least expensive areas in the west and midlands, with Leitrim cheapest of all at an average of €468 per month.

No big surprises there, but what we did find interesting is that the gap is growing, with Dublin 2 rents now 3.7 times higher than Leitrim, compared to 2010 when Dublin 2 rents were just 2.8 per cent higher.

Rents

Nationwide, average rent increased by 9 per cent in 2015, with inflation most affecting counties outside Dublin.

In Cork city, rent is 15.4 per cent higher than this time last year, and Galway has seen a rise of 13.3 per cent.

Also, as of February 2016, rent availability is at its lowest on record.
