If anything this story just goes to show that human compassion is alive and well. It may not always seem like it but there are some good people in the world. We’ll admit that we couldn’t help but let out a collective ‘aww’ when we heard this story about a kind-hearted police officer from Texas.
This picture of a police officer reaching out to a tiny, lost dog has taken the internet by storm ever since it was posted online by Reddit user MissEmKay:

“It was a really rainy yucky morning and I saw something in the street so I slowed way down,” said MissEmKay, speaking to the Huffington Post.
“The police officer pulled up, turned his lights on, stopped traffic and walked toward the little guy,” she added.
The dog was frightened at first but eventually let the officer pick him up and put him in his back seat. The kind-hearted officer was later identified as Officer Kyle Jones.
“No task is insignificant for Officer Jones,” said Sgt. John Krueger.
Sgt. Krueger added that Officer Jone’s act of kindness was also significant to a family who were desperately trying to find their lost canine.
A few hours after Officer Jones rescued the dog, the police received the following e-mail:
“Just wanted to send a big thanks for the kindness shown to my “4 legged” son this morning!
As I raised my garage door to let our cat out this morning I left the back door cracked and my little guy ran out. When I discovered he was missing minutes later it had started raining. I drove up and down the street with no luck seeing him. My son joined my search. He drove around in his car as I walked around neighbourhood and park.
As I walking on Farrington side of park my husband drove up and said that Animal Control had just brough him home. He said an officer had seen him in the middle of Spencer Highway and the officer had stopped traffic to help our little guy! Words cannot describe how grateful I am for this wonderful, caring officer and his kind deed! It is a wonderful feeling to know we have people like him looking out for us.
I kept reminding myself that he had his tag with his name, address and phone number. Then Iw ould think of how small he is and worry all over again... After a bath and his arthritis medication he has been resting all day. Safe, warm, and home again. All because someone did care!”
Officer Jones normally rides a motorcycle but opted for a patrol car on the day in question due to the rain. We imagine his four-legged-friend was also thrilled with the warm place to snooze after he was rescued.
