Is there an absolute fortune hiding in your knicker drawer? There could be! According to a new survey, us Irish women have a collection of lingerie worth an eye-watering €850. Mad, right?
The survey, which was conducted by Debenhams, revealed that the average lady has 42 pairs of knickers with 31 of those being ‘lucky pants’ or strictly for ‘special occasions’ and the remaining 11 pairs being for everyday use.
When it comes to our unmentionables, we favour frilly French knickers, racy thongs and lacy pants and we like them to have a designer label too (meaning you won’t find any cheapies in our underwear drawer!).
And it seems as though we’re not the only ones who take our pants seriously. The majority of Irish men questioned as part of the survey admitted that they had spent more than €300 on boxers.
Men tend to have three pairs of ‘posh pants’ and at least ten casual underpants in their possession. When it comes to the style, lads are very easy to please with many saying that all they need is a pair of well-fitting jocks (a designer label is a plus).

We have expensive taste when it comes to underwear
“As well as making you feel dressed to impress in the boudoir, wearing a set of designer lingerie can make you feel more confident in every day life,” said Aliza Reger, a lingerie designer at Debenhams.
“They can be your secret weapon for a job interview and are a must for date night,” she added.
A massive 92 per cent of the women who were questioned as part of the survey said that they feel sexier and more confident when they wear a matching set of lingerie with a designer tag.
We’re thinking it’s about time we cleaned out our own knicker drawers and treated ourselves to some swish new pants!
