Meet the ‘Macaronut’, an amalgamation of candy-coloured macarons and decadent doughnuts.

Pastry chef Francois Payard created the sweet treat, captured here on Instagram, to celebrate Macaron Day which takes place on March 20th, and it looks unbelievable.

The New York Post describes it as a “a macaron-sized, doughnut-shaped cookie filled with strawberry cream and topped with multicolored sprinkles”.

According to the publication, the Macaronut will go on sale in Payard’s three American patisseries on March 20th.

Half of the Macaronut sales on Macaron Day will go to City Harvest, a food rescue non-profit, and if we could go to New York for the day, we totally would.
