The New York Times Crossword has come under fire for including a clue, which seems to be a dig at feminism. The joke clue, which we’re sure someone somewhere thought was funny reads “Exasperated comment from a feminist.”

And the answer?

Men.

Uh-oh spaghetti-o’s. That’s offensive.

“You are confusing feminists with decidedly NOT-feminist sitcom ladies who grouse about their shlubby husbands,” crossword puzzle blogger Michael Sharp wrote on his blog Rex Parker Does the NY Times Crossword Puzzle.

“This is another (another!) tin-eared clumsy clue that highlights how puzzle makers are a monoculture of (mostly) white (mostly) men.”

We’re in agreement. The dangerous portrayal of feminists as angry men haters is severely detrimental to the cause. ICYMI, we wrote about the importance of feminism recently HERE.
