A right bunch of rebels. Lads from Cork who are hoping to pop the question to the good lady in their life have topped the poll for spending the most money on engagement rings than anywhere else in the country. That’s right ladies, if you want to bag yourself a massive sparkler than make your way to the Rebel County as a new survey by Littlewoods has shown that Cork men will, on average, drop up to €3,500 on that special ring. The Dubs came in second place, spending about €2,149, with Galway in third (€1,449). According to the findings, it is the metropolis of the midlands in Westmeath where the least money is spent, as lads in love there give about €729 for an engagement ring. Also in at the bottom was Cavan (€899) and Monaghan (€1,149), however it was noted that in these regions more money was spent on building a home. Meanwhile Irish women ranked a deposit on a new house, a new kitchen, soft furnishings including three piece suites, a large comfortable bed, wide screen TVs and household equipment as being more important than an engagement ring.
