Keep costs low and children entertained by having fun in the kitchen
We all know that children love it when they’re given ‘important’ jobs to do. If you’re struggling to think of a way that you can entertain your little ones for free, why not ask them if they’d like to help you in the kitchen?
There are loads of simple, inexpensive recipes that you can try out with your children. From making fairycakes to brownies, the possibilities are endless. Your children will feel grown-up and will love helping mammy out in the kitchen and aside from buying a few inexpensive ingredients, you won’t be spending a fortune either.
If you’re worried about your children getting things in and out of the oven, why not try making rice crispy buns? Aside from melting the chocolate (which you can do for them) these treats and delicious, quick to make, super-easy and definitely child-friendly.
If your children are really enjoying themselves in the kitchen, you could give them a challenge to make things a little more fun. Why not ask them to come up with different sandwich fillings for their tea?
Even if they say something crazy like gummy bears and chocolate, you’ll be teaching them about the importance of taste and why they should make healthy choices when it comes to their meals.
The experience will be fun and educational for your children and you won’t be able to stop yourself from smiling when you see how excited they get at the prospect of licking the wooden spoon when you’ve finished baking!
