It’s the little city that could.
The LGBT community and their friends and families are celebrating today with the news that Limerick has made the final shortlist of cities to host the Gay Games in 2018.
Last summer, a team of Limerick volunteers put the city by the Shannon up beside some of the most famous cities in the world, Amsterdam, London, Orlando, Paris, Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo, as the locations that initially expressed interest in hosting the games in 2018, a year that will mark the 10th Gay Games event.
Co-presidents of the Federation of Gay Games Kurt Dahl and Emy Ritt posted the above video on YouTube at 4pm today, with the happy news that the Munster city has reached the final stages.
Billed as “the world’s largest amateur sports and culture festival open to all”, the winning bid for Gay Games 10 will be announced in Ohio this October.
