This really weird thing about your shoes could affect the outcome of a first date

According to a psychologist.

News to us.

You’ve nailed the flanter, you’ve reeled them in and you’ve finally agreed on a time and a place to meet – but what the f*ck are you supposed to wear?

Dating can be a head-melt, especially trying to plan an outfit for when you meet someone for the first time.

One expert reckons that your shoes are pretty key – even down to the shape.

“Footwear is a big indicator of character,” psychologist Kate Nightingale told Marie Claire.

“Pointed toes say you’re an extrovert, rounded toes do the opposite.

“For laid-back charm, rounded toes or platforms beat out stilettos every time. They’ll make you feel stable and grounded.”

Right.

That’s not all she had to say – the colour of the clothes you choose can apparently make all the difference too.

To come across calm and relaxed, “pick calmer and lighter colours such as green and turquoise – but definitely not red if you want to appear chilled out.”

Accessories “are the best communicator of personality,” she adds, and should be used to convey how you’re feeling.

“Jazzy brogues or a statement bag are perfect for an extra confidence boost.”

Want to look like you mean business?

“Ultimate power can be expressed with tight fitting, black tuxedo trousers and a silk, straight line cut top,” says Kate.

“Add high heels and geometric clutch to complete this powerhouse look.”
