The Skies Are Safe Again! Golden Eagle Video Turns Out to Be a Hoax

Remember the golden eagle video that took the internet by storm yesterday? Well, it turns out it was nothing more than a hoax!

We’ll admit that we, along with pretty much everyone else, fell for this seemingly realistic video where a toddler was picked up (and subsequently dropped) by a terrifying golden eagle.  Here it is again, just in case you missed it yesterday:

 

The video, which has been watched over 2million times on YouTube in the past 24 hours, has now been revealed as part of a project by students at the Montreal-based animation and design school centre NAD.

The video was created by Normand Archambault, Loic Mireault and Felix Marquis-Poulin at the school for their production simulation class. The students are currently studying for their BA degree in 3D animation and digital design.

The eagle wasn't even a real bird, apparently! It was made from 3D

A press release from the college states that both the child and the eagle were created using 3D animation and were placed into the film afterwards.

We’re glad that no real, non-3D children were harmed in the making of this video.
