We don’t know about you but this is definitely one of the most powerful pictures that we have ever seen. The above image, which captures a grandson’s love for his grandfather, has gone viral since it was uploaded to Reddit.com.
The picture is an old one – it’s from a 1976 book called Gramps by Dan and Mark Jury. However, it has been raking in comments, views and shares since it appeared on Reddit in the early hours of this morning.
Gramps is a book that details the final years of Frank Tugend’s life. He was a coal miner and suffered from a condition called ‘generalised arteriosclerosis’ in the years before his death. Due to his condition, Frank had to depend on his family for everything. His grandsons, Dan and Mark, helped him with every single task in his life.
It is unclear how or why the picture made its way to Reddit all these years later, but it prompted users to immediately comment with stories about their own granfathers.
“It was one of the hardest, yet most filfilling experiences of my life. I love that man. He impacted my life so greatly, my one year of service to him was the last that I could do,” wrote one user who cared for his 96-year-old grandfather during the final year of his life.
If anything this picture inspires us to get in touch with our own grandparents and tell them just exactly how much they mean to us.
