We all know sharing a flat with randomers in college can be tough, but how would you react if you were told you might have to share a ROOM with a four-year-old toddler?
The Huffington Post reports that Shasen Snellgroves, a student at New York University, is reeling after she discovered that she may have to live in her dorm room with a tiny toddler.
Now before you ask, the toddler isn’t some kind of super-smart child who’s attending the university. Rather Shasten’s new roomie is a mother and according to the university’s housing policy, the child is entitled to sleep over to spend time with it’s mammy.
“You can imagine my shock at the revelation that my new roommate for the spring semester is the mother of a four-year-old,” said Shasten.
“According to NYU Housing, the child is allowed to stay overnight for a maximum of six nights per month in accordance with guest policy,” she added.

"Hey roomie, I am so going to ace this English lit exam!"
It doesn’t seem like a big deal, however, Shasten has highlighted a major problem with the university’s housing policy. The policy itself applies to guests of any age equally. This means that the toddler could be in the bedroom as a short-term guest every single day, providing the child doesn’t spend the night.
Shasten has said that while she is sympathetic to her roommate’s situation and while she understands that it can be hard for a young mother to afford childcare, New York University should change its housing policies and update them for modern times.
We have to ask: how would you react if you had to share a bedroom with a toddler while you were in college?
