There’s a Christmas shop that has already opened…with four months to go

Paul Moore

No, no, no. Just no.

Selfridges in London has just become the first department store in the world to open its Christmas shop – 145 days early – when they launched their festive theme earlier this week.

No, no, no.

The store has already erected their Christmas decorations and they currently have more than 500 products that are currently on offer. The shop will launch the second stage of its Christmas redesign on on 4 September when the selection will increase 3,800 options.

Again, a massive no.

Selfridges said that this ungodly decision was made to capitalise on the summer tourism season and the large influx of tourists that are currently in Europe.

We’re still sticking with no.

The sight of Santa, tinsel, glitter, and baubles in August. Nooooooo.

“We have so many customers visiting from all over the world, eager to snap up festive decorations and souvenirs on their London summer holidays which they can’t buy at home. So, we make sure we’re ready to showcase Christmas decorations they will truly treasure. Our summer Christmas shop launch simply addresses the growing demand for convenience Christmas shopping outside the traditional Christmas season from many of our customers,” said Selfridges Christmas and Home buyer Eleanor Gregory.

Dear Eleanor, no. That is all.

Would we like to see a store in Ireland launching their Christmas theme in August? Mmm, let us think.

No.
