Made of wood, steel mesh, wire and an intense 600 pounds of butter, the butter cow has been drawing crowds to the state fair since it first made its debut back in 1911.
Only five sculptors have been talented enough to carve the cow in over one hundred years. Sarah Pratt has been blessed with the job since 2006.
All of this butter may seem like a bit (or a lot) of a waste, but according to the lads over at the fair, much of the butter is reused year to year.
Some of it currently on the butter cow could actually be a decade old.
Yum.
To ensure the butter cow doesn't melt in the summer heat, it is kept inside a glass case cooled to about 4 degrees.
It was originally made to promote the dairy industry in the area.
