There’s a dating site for Trump supporters and we’ve never wanted to find a match less

Oh.

Online dating is tough at the best of times.

You’ve got your odd people, your boring people, your people who are a little bit much, your people who don’t look anything like their profile pictures, your people who rudely laugh in your face when you tell them your dream is to one day represent Ireland in the Eurovision song contest.

The list goes on…

Lucky for us though, here in Ireland, it’s unlikely that you’re going to run into a lot of Trump supporters when you’re out and about trying to find the perfect match.

Sure, it’s a possibility (Visas are a thing), but it’s not really an issue that many of us have to deal with on a day-to-day basis.

This is something people in America have to deal with though, obviously, seeing as so many of them voted to make Donald Trump their president.

And now, they’ve even got their own dating app.

It’s called Trump Dating and, surprise surprise, you have to be straight to join.

Delightful.

Take a look around the Trump Dating homepage and you’ll see many of the components of your regular dating site.

You’ve got your sign up function that allows you to pick whether you’re a straight man or a straight woman, you got your two white people in Make America Great Again caps with their arms around each other, you got the promise that you’ll find the “First Partner of your Dreams.”

Get it? Because the presidency?

Hilarious.

According to the site:

“Dating in 2018 is more of a challenge than ever before, thanks in part to today’s polarizing political landscape. While searching for a potential partner on other dating sites, it’s not uncommon to see messages like No Trump supporters or Proud liberal.

“We’re wrecking the dating game and giving like-minded Americans a chance to meet without the awkwardness that comes with the first conversation about politics. Wouldn’t it be refreshing to already know that your date roots for the same team?”

Like, in fairness to them, they’ve got a point.

There’s nothing worse than being fairly into someone and then discovering they support abortion rights, are against defunding Planned Parenthood, and respect women.

Imagine the audacity.

Anyway, once people got wind of Trump Dating via journalist Tim Mak they, of course, took the absolute piss.

Sure, good luck to them.
