These are some of the most unusual baby names of 2018 (so far)

So far, that is.

We get it, settling on the perfect name for your impending bundle can be tough.

You want that perfect, one-of-a-kind, absolutely and unequivocally special name – while still making sure it’s not too out there.

However, you also don’t want them sharing a name with half of their classmates.

In the search for that magical moniker, some parents get creative with spelling, while others change up the pronunciation – all in an effort to make sure their little one is different.

We’ve seen the rise of a variety of different baby name trends this year, from the-ever-increasing popularity of floral-inspired names to ones influenced by IKEA names.

And then there are the parents who look really far outside the box in an effort to find a name that suits their bundle.

Australian parenting website Kidspot recently shared a list of 20 new and unusual names that parents have picked so far this year.

There’s some twists on previous name trends – like Freezia, which we’d imagine was inspired by the flower freesia – and some more old-school names like Aeric.

And then there’s some more unusual choices.
