Good to note to stock up early.

We’re all guilty of putting off the Christmas shopping until the last minute. With busy work and life schedules it’s hard to get around to doing it in advance.

However, we may want to plan ahead next year because the queues for Christmas grocery shopping are going to be very long today and tomorrow, with customers lining up for all the important ingredients for their Christmas dinner.

Tesco Ireland has shared some data from last year which shows the top ten items sold last minute in Ireland on Christmas Eve.

Historically, last minute items were once dominated by phone credit, batteries and sellotape purchases, but data from 2015 has revealed that shoppers appear to be concentrating on fresh daily produce and family favourites at the final hurdle of preparation for the festivities.

Here are the top ten items sold last minute at Christmas:

1.       Fresh Milk

2.       Fresh Cream

3.       White Bread

4.       Cola soft drinks (1 and 2 litre bottles)

5.       Fruit flavour soft drinks (1 and 2 litre bottles)

6.       Bacon

7.       Crisps in a tube

8.       Lemons and Limes

9.       Big bag crisps and snacks

10.   Brussels Sprouts

Good to note if you have time to nip in ahead of the crowds.
