While watching 123 people prepare meals on camera, the same worrying trends kept cropping up during their culinary experience.
According to the results, most people tend to touch a tea towel before washing their hands, which in turn spreads harmful bugs across your counter-tops. This is later used in serving dishes, wiping plates and cleaning down counter-tops.
The study, conducted by the researchers at the University of Arizona, found that 90 per cent of tea towels in kitchen contain food-poisoning bacteria.
The same study confirmed that your phone is a hotbed for bacteria, with most people carrying their phone in and out of the bathroom, and touching screens while they’re cooking meals.
So next time you go to make a meal, maybe leave your phone charging in the bedroom.
