Is your job on the list?
The world is constantly changing as is the need for certain jobs. Two factors that influence this is the way technology develops as well as the habits of consumers.
We don’t want to scare anyone into thinking they might be out of a job around the festive season but it is interesting to note that the demands for some professions are changing.
Job searching site CareerCast have put together a list of the 10 most endangered jobs. They focused on employee downsizing and unfavourable hiring forecasts.
Some of the jobs on the list are rather obvious, such as a typist/word processor and a newspaper reporters. Others are more disheartening, as craftsmanship is now being drowned out by larger consumer chains, this leaves the likes or tailors and jewellers at risk in their jobs.
Above all, one of the most at-risk jobs is the humble postman. Sadly the art of letter-writing and card-sending has been decreasing rapidly for years now with no signs of stopping, so if you’re passionate about saving the postman’s job, send a letter or postcard every once in a while.
