The English under 19 team may have had to wait five days for it, but on Thursday evening, they finally qualified for a spot in the European championships.
After much controversy, which saw an incorrect decision by the referee after a penalty kick during the original fixture on Saturday, UEFA ordered the game to be replayed from the 96th minute in a bizarre twist.

Last Saturday, England trailed 2-1 against Norway and subsequently, had the aforementioned penalty kick disallowed.
However, the ruling from UEFA on Thursday saw Leah Williamson stepping up to the spot once more last night and scoring without hesitation to leave the official final score at 2-2.

“To take that penalty and the fact she has scored it speaks volumes for the character in the team and the personality she has,” said coach Mark Sampson.
England qualified as group winners with Norway also qualifiying as the leading runner-up.
