This couple finally got married after being forbidden 65 years ago

A very happy ending.

A very happy ending.

Sometimes, no matter how much two people love each other, timing is just not in their favour.

This was the case for an English couple who fell in love and wanted to marry back in 1951.

Helen Andre was forbidden from marrying her boyfriend Davy Moakes because her parents did not approve. The two were studying at art college and Helen’s family felt that an artist could not properly support their daughter.

Helen was only 19 at the time and said that she was heartbroken when they said no and says that she ‘never stopped loving him’.

The two broke up and Helen went on to marry three times, being widowed by each partner. Davy lost two spouses over the years. Helen’s daughter Debbie got the couple reunited through social media and the two got back together after 65 long years.

Davy now 86 and Helen, 82, married in a quiet ceremony in Derbyshire with close family and friends and the newlyweds then went on a well-deserved honeymoon to Cyprus.

“I couldn’t be happier, all my dreams have come true. I have loved Davy my whole life. But now I’ve got him. I’m enjoying every minute of it. I feel like a teenager again, it really is like nothing’s changed.” Helen told the Sun.
