Charlie Lyne is a British filmmaker on a mission to prove a point to the British Board of Film Classification.
The BBFC are required to certify films before they are allowed to be released. However filmmakers have to pay a fee of around £1000 to put their film up for review. This means that young filmmakers with little cash can’t afford to have their films shown in Britain.
However there is a flip side to this, as the BBFC are required to sit through everything they are paid to watch.
Charlie set up a Kickstarter for his new film, Paint Drying. It sounds exactly like what it is, a single unbroken shot of paint slowly drying on a brick wall. Amazingly, Charlie has received enough money to make a SIX HOUR LONG FILM for the BBFC to be tortured with.
This is the best way to troll an organisation we have seen in a long time. Bravo.
