Well, we’re thinking there must be a few broken hearts today.
Christina Perri has sold one million copies of her debut single ‘Jar of Hearts’ – hitting the milestone on Valentine’s Day.
Announced by OfficialCharts this morning, the US singer’s efforts joins just 165 other tunes that have sold over one million (not including streams) in UK chart history.
Perri penned ‘Jar of Hearts’ following the breakdown of a relationship, and the song hit its peak at Number 4 in June 2011.
Now four years after its release date, the song has hit its musical milestone on a day mixed with both heartache and the bubbling romantic intentions of Valentine’s Day.
The song is one of the few tracks to have sold a million copies that failed to take the top spot. Other crowd pleasers that circled the top 10 include Snow Patrol’s ‘Chasing Cars’ and Journey’s ‘Don’t Stop Believin’’ which both peaked at number six.
