This long distance couple’s ‘breakfast date’ is melting hearts across the internet

Keeley Ryan

Relationships can be tough.

But it’s especially difficult when you’re in a long distance relationship – and you end up missing some of the every day stuff.

One couple who creative way of spending time together has captured the hearts of the internet – and it’s easy to see why.

The pair went viral after they had a breakfast(/dinner) date over Facetime, cooking pancakes together one morning/evening.

Jace Lee, 18, told Buzzfeed that he and his girlfriend, 21-year-old Alishia Rougier, first started dating last December when they met in Trinidad and Tobago.

However, he now lives in Guam – so there’s a 14 hour time difference between the pair.

During one of their recent conversations, Alishia suggested having pancakes and, after they hadn’t had much of a chance to talk that day, Jace decided to turn it into a  date.

So they facetimed as they cooked up the meal. And it was possibly the cutest thing ever.

He explained:

“I was trying to find food to eat and so was she, so we’re like, let’s make pancakes.

“We didn’t properly talk for the day, so I’m thinking ‘lemme be cute’ and we ended up cooking our pancakes and having a breakfast/dinner date.

“Guam has a 14-hour time difference from Trinidad, so even though I was having breakfast, she was having dinner.”

And while it’s not something that the pair are able to do all the time, they try and have the occasional cooking date when they can.

He shared the whole thing on Twitter, captioning the photos:

“When y’all live 25+ hours away from each other but still wanna have breakfast together.”

And people were absolutely melting at the idea, with the tweet soon getting more than 26,000 retweets and 146,000 likes.
