The easy expert tip that could actually save you a shedload of cash each month

We are definitely trying this out!

If your New Year Resolution is to save, this might help.

Although we do our best to budget, we never seem to get very far and that’s why we’re completely on board with this tip.

The folk over at TopCashback.co.uk recently completed a study which revealed some interesting results and although it focused on the UK, the premise is exactly the same.

The survey showed that people with two bank accounts are saving between £300 – £400 a month which translates as roughly €400 – €500 for us.

Researchers say the best way to take advantage of this idea is to start with opening a second bank account.

The second step is to budget the amount you’ll need for day-to-day essentials and arrange a direct debit to withdraw that amount the day after you’re paid.

The money left can be spent on a holiday/shopping spree/festival or you could set it aside for a rainy day.

Natasha Rachel Smith, consumer affairs editor at Topcashback, spoke about the research saying:

“Being on a budget was once seen as something that would hold people back from doing what they wanted and enjoying themselves”.

“However, our research shows consumers have become savvy to the idea of setting aside money each month to increase their spending power for the long term”.

We’re willing to bet it’s easier said than done but it’s worth a try all the same.
