It’s a big day for families in Carlow this Sunday (May 3rd) as all eyes will be focused on the pitch at Cusack Park in Mullingar from 1.30pm.

For not one, but two games will be down for decision in the midlands town and for five families in Carlow, gear bags will be packed, hurls will be readied and helmets will be carried, as both sons and daughters prepare for the first big showdown of this year’s season.

Indeed, nerves will be fraught for the parents of  John Michael, Kate and Breege Nolan, Eddie, Diarmuid and Eimear Byrne, Áine and James Kinsella, David and Gillian English and Mark and Emma Brennan as their offspring prepare to do battle in the Irish Daily Star National Camogie League Division 3 final and the Leinster Hurling Championship round robin clash.

In the camogie, Carlow face off to a Dublin side that they will be hoping to overcome to claim the coveted cup.

Having already encountered the capital earlier this year and lost, Carlow will need to dig deep to produce the goods against a Dublin side that are contesting their third League final in a row.

Meanwhile, Carlow’s hurlers will go head-to-head with Westmeath in what is primed to be a tantalising double header in Mullingar.

More details on the upcoming game can be found here.
