The response has been overwhelming...

Losing a loved one is always tough, so when this family found out their six-year old daughter was terminally ill in the countdown to Christmas, they decided to make it her best holiday ever.

Addie Fausett is battling cerebral atrophy, which seriously affects her speech and motor skills. Having been told that she’s unlikely to survive another year, her family stepped in to make this Christmas as special as possible.

Addie’s family, from Fountain Green in Utah, set up an appeal asking for family, friends and strangers to send a lifetime supply of Christmas cards to help Addie look forward to the next few weeks ahead.

The response was overwhelming.

Addie’s mother Tami said:

“She doesn’t get to play with kids. So we thought if everyone would send her a card, we could tell all her friends it would make her Christmas a little bit better.”

Addie has now received thousands of cards from friends and family, as well as packages from Canada, the Phillipines and worldwide, with messages of warmth and love to the sick little girl.

The family learnt of Addie’s fate while still struggling to cope with the death of her father in a sudden car accident last year. Tami said the outpouring of support, especially from strangers, has really touched the family:

“A huge ‘Thank You’ to every single one of you following Addie’s journey and for all of the Christmas cards that have been and are being sent. They are helping the girls get through a very difficult time and bringing so many smiles, which in turn makes their mother smile.”

If you want to sent Addie a Christmas card, you can contact her on the official Facebook page here.
