Danny Nickerson is a five-year-old with terminal brain cancer who has just one wish and that’s to get lots of cards on his birthday.
The little boy from Foxborough, Massachusetts, has an inoperable brain tumour and his family are determined to make his upcoming birthday a very special one.
At the beginning of July, Danny’s mother Carley posted a very touching Facebook request. She mentioned that Danny’s birthday was coming up and that her little boy loved receiving cards.
Family members and friends have sent their well wishes to Danny and so too have people from around the world in time for his birthday on the 26th July.
Last year, Danny was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour known as a Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (an aggressive tumour located at the base of the brain).
According to ABC, doctors have told the Nickerson family that less than ten percent of children diagnosed with DIPGs live longer than 18 months.
Danny is currently undergoing chemotherapy treatment every two weeks and the family are trying to stay positive at such a distressing time. “Every day is a blessing to us,” said Danny’s mother last week.
