Toddler Gets One More Christmas After Doctors Give Him Just Days to Live

His parents brought the celebrations forward.

Ethan Van Leuven’s parents Merrill and Jen decided to bring Christmas forward this year after finding out that their son only had days to live.

The four-year-old from Utah, who sadly passed away on Tuesday (October 28th), had been battling acute lymphoblastic leukaemia since he was 22 months old.

Doctors recently told his family that the disease was no longer treatable and that he only had days, maybe weeks, to live.

That is why his parents decided to bring Halloween, Ethan’s birthday and Christmas forward. They celebrated all three occasions last week.

Yesterday, it was confirmed on the ‘Fundraiser for Ethan Van Leuven’ Facebook page that the little boy had passed away. The post read: “A heartbreaking update on 4-year-old Ethan Van Leuven of West Jordan, who captured the hearts of so many around the world.

“Ethan passed away this morning at 10:20, surrounded by family and friends. I spoke to his father, Merrill Van Leuven by phone and he was so grateful for the outpouring of support by not only our Utah community but around the world.

“To the Van Leuven family, we appreciate you letting us into your lives at this special time, to tell sweet Ethan’s story and show the wonderful community we live in. You are in our prayers.”
