They say that dogs are our best friends and if anything, this story just proves it. A dog is being hailed as a hero after it saved the life of a three-year-old girl in Poland.
The Irish Independent reports that firefighters in Poland have revealed how the young girl went missing from her home last week in freezing temperatures.
The girl, known as Julia, vanished from her home place on Friday and was found several kilometers away in nearby marshland on Saturday morning.
According to reports, the family dog, a black mongrel, stayed by the girl’s side during the night when temperatures dropped to a chilling low of -5C.

According to reports, the dog tried to keep the child warm
Grzegorz Szymanskil, a fireman who was involved in the rescue of the little girl, said that the dog kept Julia warm enough to survive the icy conditions.
“For the whole night the animal was with the girl, it never left her. Remember, it was 5 degrees below zero and the child was wet,” said Mr Szymanski, speaking to the BBC.
The little girl’s parents say that she was playing in the back garden with the family dog before she went missing.
A massive search party of over two hundred people went looking for Julia. It is believed that she wandered into the forest near her home in the village of Pierzwin and got disorientated.
The girl is currently being treated in hospital for frostbite and is believed to be recovering well.
