I never imagined enjoying a staycation as much as I did.
Usually, to me, a holiday means getting as far away as possible from anything that remotely reminds me of my day to day life. And so, the idea of a staycation was something that never usually interested me as I believed to truly switch off I had to leave my familiarity behind.
However, I was entirely incorrect.
Last month I had my first ever staycation in
The Address hotel, Dublin 1. Located conveniently next to Connolly Station for those travelling from further afield, The Address is situated less than a 20-minute walk from Grafton Street and a 2-minute walk from the Luas line.
An ideal location for those who want to be in the centre of all the action.
And although so conveniently located, the minute you enter The Address from the soft lighting to the staff waiting to take your luggage, it felt like a sanctuary, away from all the bustle outside the doors.
I think it was then I realised that after a chilled 20-minute drive from my home to the door of this hotel, staycations were starting to live up to the hype. There was no stress of packing, no rush to get there on time and the hotel was already making me feel giddy for a night in a bed that wasn't mine.

The vibe
As I've previously mentioned, the vibe from the minute you walk in the door was relaxing, welcoming and honestly, very slick. The hotel is very modern and all the rooms and areas are key card activated and feature touch technology. Everything has been created for the convenience of the traveller and when you're away from home that's exactly what you need.
The room
We stayed in a king-sized room and it was absolutely perfect for two people. The lights and curtains could be controlled from beside the bed and the AC was also at the touch of the remote control. I had too much fun opening and closing the curtains from the bed, I felt like Beyoncé.
The bathroom
The bathroom was again spacious and featured VOYA products which was a win in my books. Seeing hotels promote Irish products is key and VOYA is an organic luxury skincare brand that's based in Co. Sligo. It was a great touch to see their products on display in the hotel for all guests.
The robe
Every time I stay in a hotel there are a few key things I do, one of them is always to have a shower and lounge in the provided robe and slippers. No robe is a no go in my books and so, I was thrilled to see The Address had provided a branded robe that was soft and perfect for lying on the bed in.
The food
While staying in our home away from home, we ate in McGettigans Cookhouse located within the hotel. The hotel has a couple of foodie spots. The Cookhouse for dinner and drinks in a pub-style surrounding. The place (an area off the cookhouse) that can be booked for groups. The Parlour which serves breakfast and brunch, The Cellar - another breakfast spot and lastly, the Lounge located on the top floor of the hotel which serves free tea and coffee throughout the day, a continental breakfast and cheese and wine every evening.
The food in McGettigans was absolutely outstanding. I got a butternut squash risotto with blue cheese and a side of mash (when on holiday, eh?) I also treated myself to a glass of pinot and some cake because the food was totally moreish and I was feeling piggish. Safe to say I still don't regret one bit.
The food was also reasonably priced, we're talking €17 for a risotto, €4 for a side and around €7 for a glass of white.
The win
The win had to be The Lounge on the top floor, it features a balcony with great views of the city, a TV, really comfortable chairs and a slick coffee machine to use as you please.
The brekkie up there also featured melt in the mouth chocolate pastries and the best part - you can take as much as you want - dream.
The fail
The fail was parking. Unfortunately, The Address doesn't have its own car park but the good news is the closest car park is a few minutes walk away. For us, we got caught in the rain so this wasn't ideal but a small fail in comparison to all the good.

Lastly, be sure to grab a 'gram next to The Address' slick Insta-worth neon sign "This must be the place".
The Address hotel is one I'll be travelling back to for sure and it'll always have a place in my books as my first staycation. The hotel opened my eyes to the fact that you don't need to run away from your surroundings to feel at ease you just need to find a place that invites you to switch off.
