Wrecked? Apparently, we *should* only have three-day weeks

How many hours did you work this week?

Sounds sweet, right?

As we all know, some working days feel like they’ll never end.

You clock in, and it feels like hours go by, but alas, it’s not even near lunch time.

Many of us try to fill the hours with something amusing like chatting with friends, filling out Buzzfeed quizzes or simply just looking at memes on Twitter.

advice, advise, advisor

And it shows. According to a new survey, when participants were asked if they’re productive in work, 79 percent said ‘no’.

Apparently, the average amount of time that we are productive in work is only 2 hours and 53 minutes per day.

That seems like quite a small amount, but when you think of it, all that time you spend on the Zara website adds up.

adult, boy, break

The survey, which was conducted by VoucherCloud, asked 1,989 office employees what they get up to at work and how long they spend doing it. This is what they said:

Checking social media – 44 minutes
Reading news websites – 1 hour 5 minutes
Discussing out-of-work activities with colleagues – 40 minutes
Making hot drinks – 17 minutes
Smoking breaks – 23 minutes
Text/instant messaging – 14 minutes
Eating snacks – 8 minutes
Making food in office – 7 minutes
Making calls to partner/friends – 18 minutes
Searching for new jobs – 26 minutes

We added it all up and it actually does make sense… Do you think you’re only productive at work for three hours a day?
