Irish broadcaster TV3 Ireland has announced that it’s offering voluntary redundancy packages to a number of staff members.
In a statement by the station it said that the number of people leaving the company is unlikely to reach more than nine.
Newstalk reports that TV3 says it will offer "a Voluntary Leaving Scheme to a small number of staff whose positions will become redundant because of changes to the way that the company operates".
"The scheme has been introduced to offer flexible options to our staff at a time when TV3's programming strategy is changing to reflect an increased focus on originated content".
"TV3 recently announced a significant investment in a new Irish soap which will employ between 100-150 people.
"TV3 will also be making further programming acquisition announcements in the coming weeks."
The station said that it’s changing its programming strategy to a focus on “originated content”.
The station lost out to Sky Sports earlier this week on broadcasting rights for GAA games. They're to lose a number of programmes to UTV Ireland next year - including popular soap
Coronation Street.
