Graduating from college is a massive step in your life and, understandably, it’s one that you definitely want to share with your family. One University decided to hold a special graduation ceremony for a student, just so his dying father could see him get his degree.
“My dad died yesterday,” wrote Reddit user, Mogieeg.
“This is his last day awake...”
The picture of Mogieeg’s younger brother’s graduation has now gone viral online as various people share the image and tell the touching story to their friends.
The Huffington Post reports that the University of California at Santa Barbara arranged a personal graduation ceremony for Mogieeg’s younger brother, so their father could spend his last day witnessing his son receive his college degree.
A second member of the family, who is also a Reddit user, responded to the post and stated that the celebration didn’t end after the ceremony.
“Shortly after the graduation exercise (what they called it) my dad rallied all his energy for a late lunch to celebrate,” wrote the family member.
Thanks to the understanding of the University the family was able to create a wonderful memory and truly enjoy their last day together.
