This Irish woman’s unusual 30th birthday plans are really inspiring

Planning a milestone birthday party can often times be more trouble than it’s worth.

Finding an event, sending out invitations and stressing over who will and won’t come are just some of the worries that can take away from the day and overwhelm the party planners.

So, we were suitably impressed when we saw Dublin native Jenny Keane’s novel 30th birthday plans. Jenny is bucking the trends and shunning the boozy bar scene in favour of hosting an all-day yoga party, in aid of the Make A Wish Foundation.

Jenny's yoga party

As an avid yoga enthusiast and teacher Jenny is inviting all who wish to attend her event which will be held Wednesday, 3 August in St Stephens Green Park.  The classes are being run for free and true to Jenny’s altruistic nature, she is asking participants to donate what they can to her incredible charity of choice.

She hopes to raise €3,000 for the Make A Wish Foundation, which she says would be enough to grant two children a holiday wish!

We’re kinda in love with Jenny right now, for being so positive and spending her big day helping others.

On her unusual birthday plans, she had this to say

“I think there is such a MASSIVE pressure to have these crazy big celebrations for your 30th and honestly the thought just stressed me out.

My family were asking me, what do you want for your birthday, and I would just think, there is literally nothing I want. I have no need for presents and if anything I find my life so much lighter when I have less “stuff” in it!

I am so content cycling around with my yoga pants on and my mat on my back! So one night after being bombarded with questions about what I wanted to do I Just asked myself…what do I LOVE. And very quickly I was like…well I loveeeee teaching yoga!

Yoga has been my saving grace over the years, be it from a stressful job or injuries and every time. I step on the mat it is like a gift to myself! Thinking that I get to spend the day sharing that with the LOVELY people of Dublin makes me so happy and thinking that we could grant the wish of even ONE child in the process makes my heart want to explode! I know I might sound like a lunatic but feck it! We are all a bit mad”

We could all learn a thing or two from Jenny. You can find her charity page here.
