Urban Outfitters have landed themselves right in the middle of a social media storm because of the name of a shampoo that the store was stocking.
The shampoo, made by Anatomicals is called Peachy Head, which many are taking to be a pun of Beachy Head, one of the UK’s most notorious spots for suicides.
Yikes.
The product description read “I never knew my once beautiful hair would actually commit suicide by tossing itself off dramatic white cliffs to the rocks below.”
Dear @UrbanOutfitters think this is an acceptable product aimed at teenage girls? Shameful AND hugely irresponsible. pic.twitter.com/3gdwadGj5Q

Seriously, punning on Beachy Head with Peachy Head and then calling hair suicidal must have taken some serious level of marketing wankerdom.

@matthaig1 @UrbanOutfitters wow. Irresponsible and out of touch.

Urban Outfitters was quick to respond:
@matthaig1 We appreciate your concern and are pulling this product from all retail stores immediately.

Someone else had a suggestion for the store:
@UrbanOutfitters @samatlounge I think it would also be appropriate for you to make a large donation to a suicide prevention charity.
