Video app Vine is shutting down

The internet will never be the same again.

Twitter’s video app Vine, introduced in 2013, is closing down.

The news was announced today, confirming that the app will be discontinued in the near future.

However, don’t freak out because “nothing is happening to the apps, website or your Vines today”.

Phew.

You can still access and download your Vines for now and when the app is officially closed, users will be notified.

A statement released on Medium explained the above in detail and also thanked those who contributed to the app over the past three years.

An extract from this piece reads:

“Thank you. Thank you. To all the creators out there — thank you for taking a chance on this app back in the day.

“To the many team members over the years who made this what it was — thank you for your contributions.

“And of course, thank you to all of those who came to watch and laugh every day”.
