The Boston Marathon bombings last April were shocking and devastating, but we love hearing the stories of people not only overcoming the odds, but proving the power of the determination.

Adrianne Haslet-Davis, a 33-year-old professional dancer, lost part of her left leg in the bomb explosion last April. She also lost her ability to dance, but after meeting journalist Anderson Cooper during her recovery in the hospital, the dancer agreed to allowing her story to be documented about her strive to dance again.

Her condition for allowing filming? Andersoon Cooper was to take a dance lesson with Adrianne as soon as she was able to dance again.

Adrianne performed a public dance at a TED conference for the first time in a year in March. Previous to the bombings, the dancer trained five days a week, for eight hours a day.

The 33 year old said at the time:

“It was bittersweet. It was the closest I’d gotten to feeling like I had my leg back but it wasn’t close at all – and I knew that was the best there was out there.”

Adrienne’s incredible story was covered by CNN, in a documentary The Survivor Diaries.

The best part of this video? Watch as she teaches the journalist some moves with grace.

Simply put, she’s an incredible woman.
