It’s usually regarded as the most stoic and serious of news services, bit every now and then the BBC comes up trumps with a news gaffe that’s good for a giggle.
Today’s one comes courtesy of presenter Simon McCoy, who left viewers baffled when he delivered a news report in full while holding a ream of photocopier paper.
It was revealed after the piece went out that McCoy had mistaken the paper of an iPad anchors are often seen with on screen.
A spokeswoman for BBC News explained: "This morning as Simon McCoy was preparing to introduce this story, instead of picking up his tablet to hold as he went to air, he mistakenly picked up a ream of paper that was sitting next to it."
"In the rush of live news, he didn't have an opportunity to swap the items, so simply went with it."
Fantastic.
