VIDEO: Five-Year-Old Cancer Patient Records Message To Help Others

A very special little girl.

Cathy Donohue

Hannah Higgins was diagnosed with kidney cancer in February.

The five-year-old, from San Diego, recorded the below video with the help of her father Joshua to help others going through the same ordeal.

Hannah talks about the treatment she had for her cancer, which doctors diagnosed as an advanced stage bilateral Wilms tumor.

The brave little girl underwent chemotherapy, radiation and numerous surgeries to remove a tumour which she describes as “a meatball on her kidney”.

She continues: “Chemo has medicine to kill the cells that are growing the tumour and the medicine keeps going to try and kill it”.

Describing radiation, Hannah says: “I had something called radiation also, which is pretty fun because you get to blow bubbles and I can bring my CD and sing along. And you have these butterfly stickers they draw on you with permanent marker”.

Hannah completed treatment at the end of August with no indications of the disease but will continue to be regularly monitored through MRI scans, according to The Huffington Post.

Her mother Kristen said: “She welcomes questions about her appearance and is able to explain to kids and adults alike why her hair fell out and how it is growing back now tat she is no longer receiving chemo”.

The video is very moving and Hannah ends by saying: If you have cancer, don’t worry, cause I am brave and you can be brave also”.
