This is heartbreaking.
The ISPCA has released shocking footage depicting a woman violently kicking a small dachshund dog, in an effort to encourage the public to report any cruelty they witness.
The animal charity reports that thanks to "an eagle eyed member of the public" who caught the act on camera and forwarded it to the Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, the dog has now been taken to safety.
Inspector Lisa O' Donovan responded to a call in relation to a small dog being repeatedly kicked, and visited the property of the dog owner, where she found two small dachshunds, one of which was recovering from surgery.
The woman featured in the corresponding footage pleaded guilty to to causing unnecessary suffering to a dog on her property last April and was fined €300.
However, inspector O' Donovan is dissatisfied with this ruling.
She said: “I am disappointed with the leniency of the judgement. It was heart breaking to witness what had happened to this defenceless dog. She has such a pleasant personality, and there was absolutely no reason for her to have endured this horrendous attack”.
The organisation said:
"The ISPCA needs your help to continue reporting cruel treatment, neglected or abuse to an animal by calling the ISPCA National Animal Cruelty Helpline on 1890 515 515 in confidence or report cruelty online on http://www.ispca.ie/cruelty_complaint."
