Massachusetts state police have released this video shot from the state police helicopter of the second Boston Marathon bombing suspect’s capture on Friday night.
Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was apprehended by police after being spotted in the garden of a Watertown resident. The Sunday Times reported that the local stepped out for a cigarette Friday evening when he noticed blood on the tarpaulin of his boat in his back garden.
He alerted police immediately.
The video shows the police used infrared night vision to spot the wounded suspect hidden in the boat.
The armoured vehicle approached the boat before using its robot arm to remove the boats cover, exposing the suspect. “Flash-bang” grenades are exploded to disorientate the suspect to prevent escape.
It is reported today that the suspect has begun communicating with police in hospital.
