Couch surfing in recent years has become a global phenomenon. The idea behind the initiative is that you log onto the website where you can browse through fellow couch surfers and pick a place to stay – anywhere in the world!
This documentary, "One Couch at a Time", is full length feature film that follows protagonist and veteran CouchSurfer, Alexandra Liss, through 20 countries, 5 subcontinents, for 6 months using CouchSurfing.org.
In the documentary Alexandra experiences crowd funding and co-working with the film capturing “the magical, heart-warming, serendipitous exchanges that occur one couch at a time.”
“One Couch at a Time” gives a real insight into the unique experiences of the traveller and the hosts and also features Sharing economy expert, Rachel Botsman, author and efficiency guru, Tim Ferriss, founder of Burningman Larry Harvey, and of course, the founder of Couchsurfing, Casey Fenton.
The film begins in SE Asia, then Southern Africa, Western Europe, Australia, South America and climaxes at Burningman.
Sounds like the perfect film for budding travellers!
