Father’s Day means something different to all dads but for Marc Grimard, just being with his son was enough.
Airline company WestJet teamed up with Ronald McDonald House Charities Canada to organise for Marc to spend some time with his four-year-old son Joel who has a congenital heart condition.
They organised for one of their employees to take Marc’s place at work so that he could take some time off to visit his boy and wife Angela who live away from home.
They flew him free of charge from Saskatoon, where he works and lives with their other son Mathieu (7), to Northern Alberta for a week.
Speaking about it, Marc said: “As a dad, to be able to be close to your sick child... there’s nothing more important”.
He added: “I don’t have the words to say how grateful I am. Just a big huge thank you and very much appreciated”.
