Google are currently working to rectify the problem which is based within the ‘Hangouts’ apps.
The app is able to save videos and photos, thereby allowing hackers to send videos to the device and later gain access to it.
“This happens even before the sound that you’ve received a message has even occurred,” explained a security researcher at the firm to NPR.
“That’s what makes it so dangerous. [It] could be absolutely silent. You may not even see anything.”
