This is just a very lovely story. This gorgeous 2-year-old Dachshund has found a new friend in 7-month disabled cat, Ruth.
Idgie, the Dachshund, was abandoned at a driveway along with Ruth and upon their rescue, it turned out that the black and white cat could only move by dragging herself along with her front legs.
The pair were rescued together and they’ve been inseparable since.
"We actually don't know what's wrong with her," said Diane Gagliano, program coordinator for Seminole County Animal Services, speaking to the Orlando Sentinel.
"We think it may have been something she was born with. It was really a strange situation — both of them were found in fairly good shape, not filthy or malnourished, so it seems as though they probably had a home at some point. But on the flip side, no one came and claimed them, and how could the cat get very far without the owner knowing?"
Ruth and Idgie were named after two characters from the popular drama Fried Green Tomatoes and the Orlando Sentinel noted that every time they were seperated, the dog was very unhappy.
"It was like she was constantly looking for her," said Gagliano, who had to set up a special pen for the two of them. Usually dogs and cats are segregated at the shelter.
