Heartbreaking footage of an abused rescue dog enjoying her first caress has surfaced this week.
The puppy was rescued in Romania and brought to a nearby shelter, where she experienced the first showing of affection towards him in his short life.
A video, showing the pup to be extremely fearful at first, but then warming as she gradually understands that the gesture is loving, was uploaded to YouTube and has been viewed more than 200,000 times in a matter of days.
The description says that the dog has since been adopted and named Priscilla and is “doing much better”.
A happy ending but a stark reminder that rescue shelters are filled with dogs in desperate need of love.
